Extreme Makeover

Okay, I’m back from my blogging hiatus.  Saturday my youngest daughter Amelia lost her first tooth!  Well, she didn’t really lose it.  We found it in her mouth after she hit it on the kitchen counter.  Ouch!  Needless to say, Danielle was pretty bummed.  And I was pretty traumatized after seeing the exit wound.  Everything’s cool, though.  She’s gonna look perfectly normal in around 4 years.  Check out the pic of the trooper:

Bedtime ramblings from the middle child

My middle daughter Olivia always comes up with the funniest lines when I’m putting her down for bed.  When we were on vacation my oldest daughter, Gabriella, got bit by a hermit crab in a pet store.  That night when I was putting Olivia down to bed I asked her what her favorite part of vacation was.  In a real monotone voice she says, “When the crab bit Gabriella.”  What’s up with that?!

Then I asked her a couple nights ago what she wanted to be when she grows up.   She said a mommy.  So I asked her what would she do if she were a mommy and she says, “Drive.”  Then I asked her what else she would do if she were a mommy.  This time she paused for a minute and in her little monotone voice she says, “Tell them not to do things”.  So according to Olivia the only prerequisites for being a mom are driving and telling kids not to do things.  Easy enough.

Don’t be “that” guy

My bro-in-law Josh happens to be “that” guy.  You know, “hey, you wanna know what an arm bar feels like? guy”.  And I’m always like,”um, seeing professional cage fighters tap out because it hurts so bad is proof enough for me that I don’t want to know what that feels like.”  Well, I lost a bet and had to concede during the past UFC fight.  I started being able to use writing utensils again last week so things are looking up.  The pictures are a little sketchy but here’s the fallout:

My Apologies

My apologies on totally abandoning my blog, people.  We recently bought a new house and I’ve been busy with my dad fixing it up.  I’ll put some pictures up when we finish so you can see what we’ve been working on.  I plan to get back in the swing of things soon, though.  Geaux Tigers!  Beat the Gamecocks.  I’m out.

I’m Old

I’ve never felt so old in my life.  This is a picture of Gabriella before her first day of Kindergarten.  I can’t believe I’ve got a kid in kindergarten!  Time goes by so fast.  I have to make myself cherish every moment because I know it’s gonna be gone before I know it.  She’s too cute.  I’m not looking forward to about 10 years from now.

Beautiful People

I’ve had the privilege of being on worship teams for most of my life and one of my favorite things is seeing the faces of worshippers.  It never gets old looking out and seeing a high school friend that didn’t know God and is now worshipping with his family.  Or seeing people who have been healed from cancer and other diseases worshipping a faithful God.  Just watching a father and son can be overwhelming because I can’t wait to experience that with my own daughters.

I never feel more united with a group of people than in those moments because our common denominator is so clear:  a need for Jesus.  You see the rich and the poor, the healthy and the handicapped, the young and old and all of us are in desperate need for Jesus.  I’m not trying to be sappy, but it’s beautiful.  I love you guys.  Peace.

Vaccum Cleaner Hysteria

Okay, I don’t know if my vaccum cleaner emits a frequency that makes my kids freak out or what. But whenever I vaccum our rug, my kids come out of the woodwork and start going crazy. I captured some raw footage of this for everyone to enjoy.

Heavyweights

I’ve been wanting to do a blog about some of my favorite men of God.  One of the first guys that came to mind was Keith Green.  He was a real trailblazer as far as worship music goes and he had a real big impact on me growing up (plus he had a sweet fro).  I remember listening to his music in the car with my parents when I was probably seven or eight years old.  He was such a passionate person and his songs have impacted who knows how many people.

Then there’s Leonard Ravenhill.  What a beast!  Listening to his messages will keep you humble and passionate for the things of God.  His book “Why Revival Tarries” is also great.  Check both of these guys out if you get a chance.  They lived incredible lives.

College Football Started Today (well, Tuesday)

NCAA 08 just came out, which officially marks the beginning of the college football season.  Looks like the kids might be making an early exit tonight because daddy’s got some unfinished brizzness with the Nicktator.

Major League Hope

I’m a really big sports fan and I can came across this story about a Major League baseball player named Josh Hamilton.  The guy was the number one pick in the 1999 draft but got addicted to crack.  God set him free and now he’s back playing for the Reds.  He’s got a great story to tell.  Check it out:  http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2926447.
